Help with Depression

A real-life example showcasing the transformative power of personal empowerment sessions in conquering depression and reclaiming joy in life

Pamela (not real name) came to see me as she had been experiencing symptoms of depression for over 4 years. She had already tried multiple types of therapies including CBT, EMDR, herbs and also anti-depressants with little success. She was finding it difficult to work, connect with others and always had very low energy. Her erratic sleep patterns were also making her feel worse and putting on a ‘face’ was really getting to her.

In our first few sessions we worked on what led up to her feeling this way. We discovered some significant unresolved events from her childhood had been triggered by a relationship she was currently in. She was trapped in those feelings that had now surfaced which were making her feel depressed, despair and totally helpless.

After helping her resolve and release the memories, emotions and past traumas that were weighing her down, she started to feel lighter for the first time in many years. She also felt less trapped in her emotions and could finally feel a way out could now be a possibility.

We then worked on the habitual patterns she developed as a result of constantly expecting to feel a certain way. These patterns had become strongly ingrained and were regulating her nervous system, becoming second nature for her. She had formed a strong identity to being a certain way - i.e. depressed.

As soon as this identity was released her body relaxed, her breathing changed, her skin tone colour changed right in front of me ... it was as if life itself entered her body and revived her!

I asked her if she could imagine herself going back to depression and she commented that could barely even relate to it now so she wouldn't even know how to!

A year on she still remains symptom free.
